Throughout each month I am posting links to media coverage where I have had active involvement in the story or have provided comment and a Labour Party perspective. As an elected County councillor I am often asked to provide local input on national stories and the socialist perspective on local issues.
This page will be updated throughout the month.
Another twist in the Manston saga
The Government makes another u-turn and decides not to contest the points of an impending judicial review.
In Kathy Bailes’ coverage of the latest episode in the story of the failed airport, I ask whether the money raised locally to pay for solicitors to fight the Government will be refunded by the Government. And will Transport Secretary, Grant Shapps now pave the way for a development of sustainable housing and business units on the land?
Why do we need to ‘consult’ on the ending of live animal exports?
We were told that live animal exports through the Port of Ramsgate would end with Brexit. With only days until the transition period ends, Environment Secretary George Eustice has announced an 8-week consultation on the trade. Why do we need a consultation? Do what was promised and just end this foul trade.
Amazing response to my Christmas toy appeal
I have been so pleased with the way Ramsgate residents and businesses have made Christmas that bit better for local kids this December. I put out an appeal for new and nearly-new toys and gifts to be donated so that families struggling to get by would still be able to have presents for their children.
The number of gifts collected so far will make a tremendous difference in many households, so thank you to everyone who has helped.
COVID testing, a no-deal Brexit and the green transport
Just some of the topics up for discussion when I appeared on KMTV’s Paul on Politics.
The other guest taking questions from Paul Francis on December 11 was Ashford’s Conservative county councillor, Paul Bartlett.
An edit of the programme, highlighting my contributions, is below. For the full half hour recording visit KMTV.
