Bungling Boris announces new hospital for Canterbury

At a fringe meeting in Manchester, where the Conservative party held their 2019 conference, Boris Johnson appeared to announce a new hospital for Canterbury. What now seems to be an almighty gaff by the PM caused a stir in East Kent where plans for such healthcare provision are still under review.

The BBC asked me on to two of their programmes in my capacity of Kent County Councillor for Ramsgate and the Labour member of the county’s Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee. Recordings of these contributions are posted below and you can read more on this story on this site.

Headline from Kent Online: Labour take control of Thanet Cistrict Council as Conservatives ousted

Tory Bob Bayford was kicked from his position as leader of Thanet District Council following a vote of no confidence on October 10. Labour leader Rick Everitt has taken on the role and Labour now has control of the council after the agreement of independent councillors.
