The support of friends and colleagues from the socialist movement is very important to anyone who wants to stand for office as a Labour Party candidate. For many months the vacancy for a Labour Prospective Parliamentary Candidate (PPC) for South Thanet has been a topic of conversation. During this time I have received much encouragement and support to stand for selection.
Now that the process is well under way, some of those who are backing me for PPC have openly shown their support. The list includes politicians, trade unions, Momentum and individuals. To all those showing support in public and privately I am grateful. Together I hope we can run a successful campaign and prove that the Labour Party in South Thanet wants a Parliamentary candidate with demonstrable skills for speaking out and winning for the many, not the few.
The people of Thanet South need a strong, socialist candidate who is able to oppose the Tories’ cruel record of cuts.
Karen would be formidable, and as an MP she would be a real asset to a Corbyn-led Labour government.
